Week Three Term Two


Science week

Science in a van :]

On the 3rd of May we went to the hall for science in a van there where two people that talked about science. We all learnt so much about science like we learnt about matter like the 3 states of matter are gas, solid and liquid.    

 

 Growing crystals !

On Monday we made crystals

We needed: water

Salt       washer

Cups    string

Pencil    spoon

Steps: first you put hot water into a cup then we put loads of salt into the hot water then we stired it until the salt has disolvied then you tie the end of the string onto the washer then tie the other end of the string to the pencil. after leave the washer to create crystals on it also make sure the washer doesn’t touch the bottom of the cup.  

 

Oobleck!

You will need:

Cornflour,    bowl,    spoon,

Water and a   baking tray

Steps: first you put the cornflour into the bowl then you add tiny bits of water at a time then keep stiring until its as thick as honey when it is you can hold it over the tray.

This week we made 'Ghost Bubbles' with dry ice and dish washing liquid. See the instructions here.
They looked really cool and we were inspired to write some descriptive poems to describe them.


Ghost Bubbles
Slimy gooey bubbles
when it pops it looks like a misty cloud
it feels like tiny bits of dust falling down
slimy gooey bubbles

 it turns into gas
and it feels slimy
so so slimy
and it smells like bubbles

Ghost bubbles, heavy and white
they are very slimy and look like a shost
if you have slimy hands you can catch them
they make steam everywhere
they are cld and they are spooky

Science Week!

It's Primary Science Week and Mrs Carryer is very excited. There is a heap of cool science happening at Meadowbank School this week.
On Monday the Science in a Van people are presenting to us, we will be doing  a lot of science in class all week and there are awesome lunchtime labs happening every day. Look at the time table below. Which labs are you going to?

Homework this week is also science and technology themed. We can't wait to see what Room 34 come up with!
